Texas vs. OU: How to watch, odds, weather, injuries, series history
No. 1 Texas football (5-0, 1-0 SEC) and the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1, 1-1 SEC) met for the first time ever in the Red River Rivalry game this upcoming weekend as SEC foes at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. At the Texas State Fair, UT and OU will square off for the 120th time in the history of the Red River Rivalry game.
In a rare occasion, both Texas and Oklahoma had bye weeks during the week leading up to Red River.
Texas enters Red River this year as the lone remaining undefeated team in the SEC, since there was so much chaos around the college football landscape for top-ranked teams last weekend. Multiple top 15-ranked teams fell to unranked foes, including the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC.
A win over the Sooners would give the Longhorns substantial momentum entering what could be the toughest game in SEC for Texas this fall, in Week 8 against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs on Oct. 19.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is 1-2 against Oklahoma during his time at Texas. This is an incredibly important game for Sarkisian to come out on top against Oklahoma after suffering two close losses out of the three games he's coached for the Longhorns against the Sooners since the 2021 season.
Here's a look at the game information, betting odds, injuries, and more for the Red River Rivalry game between No. 1 Texas and No. 18 Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas, TX, on Oct. 12.

Texas football vs. OU injuries
During his Monday press conference, Sarkisian said that redshirt junior Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers would start if the Longhorns played the Sooners "today". But Texas will continue to monitor Ewers' progress and injury status throughout this week in practice leading up to the OU game in Red River on Oct. 12.
It sounds like Ewers is still on the right pace for his recovery from the abdominal strain injury to start for the Longhorns this coming Saturday against the Sooners.
If Ewers is sidelined due to the abdominal injury this weekend against Oklahoma in Red River, redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning will start the game for Texas.
