No. 2 Texas football returns home to the friendly confines of DKR in Austin in Week 3 to take on head coach Jeff Traylor and the UTSA Roadrunners on Sep. 14. Texas is looking to keep the momentum going on the field after thoroughly handling the No. 10 ranked and defending National Champion Michigan Wolverines at the Big House in Ann Arbor last weekend.

Texas opened up as a sizable favorite over UTSA, getting a five-score edge in the opening betting line from many of the major Vegas sportsbooks.

UTSA has been a worthy G5 opponent for the Longhorns as recently as a couple of years ago. Traylor has built a very respectable G5 program at UTSA that has emerged as a reliable AAC title contender during the 2020s decade so far.

But UTSA isn't of the same caliber on each side of the ball on the two-deep this fall as we've seen in years past under Traylor. UTSA was dismantled by a former Traylor protegee in head coach GJ Kinne and the Texas State Bobcats last weekend in San Marcos, by a convincing score of 49-10.

"I want to make it 60 minutes of hell for our opponents. We have a roster that can do that, but that’s also a mentality that we’re striving for, that we’re working towards, and I think that we can get better at. That’s definitely a point of emphasis of ours as well."

Nonetheless, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are keeping their focus in the right place to avoid playing down to the competition this weekend after the big win over Michigan last Saturday.

Here's a look at the game information, betting odds, injuries, and more for the Week 3 matchup between No. 2 Texas and UTSA at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX, on Sep. 14.

Later in the second half, Blue returned to the game for the Longhorns.
