These elite 2026 recruits were crystal-balled to Texas
John Turntine, OT
If I had to pick one recruit who should be considered the top offensive tackle priority for the Longhorns in-state in the 2026 class early in the cycle, it would be Fort Worth (TX) North Crowley five-star John Turntine.
The No. 3 offensive tackle recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite has been a very frequent visitor at Texas since last offseason. Turntine made his fourth unofficial visit since the start of this offseason to Austin for the pool party/BBQ bash event last week.
Turntine has had great experiences each time he and his family have visited Austin in the last year. He spent a lot of time during his visit for the pool party/BBQ bash last week with Sarkisian and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood.
Immediately following the conclusion of his visit to Austin last week for the bash event, Turntine said that Texas continues to be a school that is "sticking out" to him on the recruiting trail this offseason.
Early in Turntine's recruitment, it looks like the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies are the two schools in the top spots among the in-state contenders. If a leader had to be named in this recruitment late this summer, Texas would be my choice over Texas A&M and the rest of the field among the schools that have offered Turntine.
Really since the start of this offseason, Flood and the Longhorns have been trending for Turntine. It's still early in his recruiting process, but the Longhorns are in a great spot right now for the top-rated offensive tackle recruit in-state in the 2026 class.
Two crystal balls have been entered in the last couple of days by 247Sports reporters/analysts, both of which are projecting Turntine's commitment to the Longhorns.
