Early this fall, Texas basketball recruiting has been busy on the trail, hosting top prospects for key visits from the 2025 and 2026 classes. Since late August, Texas has hosted roughly a half-dozen blue-chip targets on the recruiting trail from the 2025 and 2026 cycles on campus for important visits.

Basketball recruiting is heating up on the trail for men's and women's programs around the college landscape with only a few weeks remaining before the Early Signing Period in a couple of weeks on Nov. 13.

Last cycle, head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns saw their long-term and patient recruitments come to fruition with a couple of key commitments from priority prospects in the 2024 class in the fall of 2023. Five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson announced publicly for the Longhorns during the Early Signing Period last November for the 2024 class.

Texas's recent string of important visitors on campus in the past couple of months sets the stage for what the Longhorns 2025 class could look like for Terry and staff this fall.

Here's a run down of key recruiting targets for the Longhorns on the trail in the 2025 class this fall.

Shelton Henderson, F

Texas is in the mix among the top three finalist schools for the elite five-star Houston (TX) Bellaire small forward Shelton Henderson this week. Henderson will decide between the Duke Blue Devils, Louisville Cardinals, and Texas live on the 247Sports YouTube channel on Nov. 2.

Terry and the Longhorns hosted Henderson for his official visit on Sep. 27. He also took official visits to see Duke (Oct. 4) and Louisville (Aug. 23) in the past couple of months. Duke made a big move in this recruitment coming out of Henderson's official trip to Durham a few weeks ago.

But the Longhorns do have the advantage of being the closest school to home for Henderson, being just a three hours drive from the campus at UT.

"They showed a lot of love. Them being the homestate school helps. Rodney Terry, Brandon Chappell and the whole staff was great and I enjoyed being around them. The whole atmosphere and fanbase really stood out to me."

Shelton Henderson

Terry has a longstanding relationship that he's built with Henderson. Relationships he has and the style of play under Terry and the Longhorns coaching staff have been big factors for Texas in this recruitment for the elite wing recruit from Houston.
