Predicting Texas's first 2025 commit before signing day
John Clark, PF
High-four-star Houston (TX) Link Academy power forward John Clark is one of Texas's top in-state big man priorities in the 2025 class this fall.
Clark officially visited Texas in mid-September and has remained in consistent communication with Terry and the Longhorns staff throughout the summer and this fall on the recruiting trail. He's mostly got in-state and schools around the state of Texas involved in his recruitment a few weeks before the Early Signing Period in mid-November.
Other schools that received official visits from Clark were the Texas A&M Aggies (Aug. 31), Houston (Sep. 5), Oklahoma Sooners (Sep. 20), and Kansas Jayhawks (Oct. 11).
Clark included the Longhorns among his top six finalist schools late this summer. He's built good relationships with Terry and the Longhorns staff, who were in on his recruitment pretty early in 2023.
It sounds like the three schools at the top of the list for Clark this fall on the recruiting trail are Kansas, Texas, and Houston. Kansas has picked up some momentum in this recruitment after a successful final official visit to Lawrence in mid-October.
But the fact that the Cougars and Longhorns are closest to home for Clark in Texas could be an edge for both schools before the Early Signing Period in a few weeks.
