Down goes No. 1 Texas. The top-ranked Longhorns fought well but it simply wasn't enough to get past the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs. With the first blemish of the season now on the Horns' record, Texas is certainly going to drop in the rankings.

However, when then-No. 1 Bulldogs lost to the then-No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia only dropped a few spots to land at No. 5 in the rankings.

So, with the almost guaranteed shake-up that is about to take place in the AP Top 25, where will Texas end up?

Projecting the top 5

  1. Oregon Ducks (7-0)
  2. Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0)
  3. Georgia Bulldogs (6-1)
  4. Tennessee Volunteers (6-1)
  5. Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1)

Texas could quickly get bumped beyond the top five spots in the country. With the undefeated Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions most likely taking the top-two spots, it only leaves three places remaining in the top five. After Saturday's wins, Georgia and Tennessee will likely round out the top four and Ohio State, who lost by just one point to Oregon in Week 7, will likely be No. 5.

Projecting the top 10

  1. Oregon Ducks (7-0)
  2. Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0)
  3. Georgia Bulldogs (6-1)
  4. Tennessee Volunteers (6-1)
  5. Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1)
  6. Miami Hurricanes (7-0)
  7. Texas Longhorns (6-1)
  8. LSU Tigers (6-1)
  9. Iowa State Cyclones (7-0)
  10. Clemson Tigers (6-1)

Texas will most likely remain in the top 10 but will be in the later half, landing around No. 7 or 8 now that the Horns have the loss on their record.

With Alabama losing to Tennessee, the Crimson Tide will most likely get kicked out of the top 10 but have a chance to remain in the top 25, despite having two losses already, because of their win over the Bulldogs earlier this season.

The Longhorns play their next game on Oct. 26 against the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, TN.
