Less than 24 hours after committing to the Texas Longhorns, four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. was on the other side of the recruiting process, working to bring in more blue-chip prospects for the Horns.

When fellow four-star prospect Luke Wafle, a top edge rusher in the class of 2026, announced his top four schools, which included the Longhorns, Bishop took to social media to try and sway Wafle towards Texas.

"Let’s make it official," Bishop wrote on X (formerly Twitter), including two 'Horns up' emojis and the hashtag "HookEm."

Wafle is the No. 4 edge rusher in the class of 2026 and is the No. 1 athlete out of the state of New Jersey, according to On3. Currently, the site has him crystal balled to commit to the Penn State Nittany Lions but gives Texas a 17.3 percent chance to land his commitment.

Bishop's commitment to the Longhorns raised the Texas recruiting class ranking for 2026 to No. 15 in the nation. The addition of an elite-level edge rusher like Wafle could push the Horns even closer to the top 10.

Wafle has only played two seasons of varsity football for Hun High School, in his hometown of Middleton, NJ, but he has already produced an impressive stat line, consistently disrupting his opponents' passing schemes.

The young edge rusher has five official visits scheduled for the summer, including the Texas Longhorns on June 20. He will also visit the Florida Gators (May 16), Ohio State Buckeyes (May 30), Penn State Nittany Lions (June 6), and USC Trojans (June 13).
