All signs are pointing to Rodney Terry no longer being the head coach of the Texas men's basketball team. After a disappointing finish to the 2024-25 season, most Horns expect the news to break sooner rather than later.

On the morning of Friday, March 21, Terry shared a message with the Longhorn nation, thanking them for the time he spent with the program.

"Thank you Longhorn Nation for your consistent support," Terry said. "And a special thanks to all of our players, coaches and staff for your commitment and continuing to stay the course all season. Love you guys."

This would definitely seem to point to a "goodbye" from the embattled coach.

Terry became the Longhorns' head coach after the program parted ways with former HC Chris Beard, who now coaches at Ole Miss. He officially took the role, after working in an interim capacity, on March 27, 2023, when he signed a five-year contract with Texas.

Texas will have to pay Terry $5.4 million for his buyout due to just over three years still remaining on his original contract with the Horns. Over his three years with the program, he led Texas to a 62-37 record which included a run to the Elite Eight, a run to the Round of 32, and this year's appearance in the First Four.

One problem that the Longhorns will now run into is finding Terry's replacement. The candidate pool for a top-tier Division I program is rapidly shrinking as other programs, that parted ways with their head coaches earlier this year, have already found replacements.

Neither Chris Del Conte nor the Texas Longhorns athletic accounts have yet to share a statement on Terry's departure.
