With the departures of Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, and Chendall Weaver due to the trio exhausting their collegiate eligibility, and the additional departures of Cam Heide, Simeon Wilcher, and Nic Codie to the transfer portal, the Texas men's basketball team had some gaping holes in the roster.
Well, it took just one weekend for Longhorns' head coach Sean Miller to patch those holes.
Most recently, Miller landed a massive commitment from four-star power forward David Punch, who just wrapped up his second season for the TCU Horned Frogs.
Punch, after averaging 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Horned Frogs, hit the transfer portal, and is a perfect replacement for now-former Texas forwards Heide and Declan Duru Jr.

Punch isn't the only transfer portal pickup Miller has already acquired; the former TCU forward joining former Colorado point guard Isaiah Johnson, who committed to the Horns just one day earlier.
Johnson played just one season for the Colorado Buffaloes but started in 15 games, averaging a highly impressive 16.9 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game.
Yes, it hurts to lose players like Pope and Heide, who were integral pieces of the Longhorns' run to the Sweet 16 just a few weeks ago. However, Miller is already doing a fantastic job of rebuilding his depth chart.
Not to mention, Texas's starting center Matas Vokietaitis announced he would return for another season with the Horns, and the team has a top-15 recruiting class joining the program in the coming months, headlined by four-star prospects Austin Goosby, Bo Ogden, and Joe Sterling.
The men's basketball transfer portal is still open for eight more days, during which Miller could possibly see additional players leave his program. However, it also provides more time for potential recruits to enter their names as well.
At the end of the day, Texas is going to be just fine. It took Miller less than one year to lead the team to the Sweet 16, after all.
