Since taking over the Longhorns' program just under a month ago, Sean Miller has rapidly turned Texas into a powerful force. Now, out of left field, Texas and Miller have emerged as one of a handful of programs that have expressed interest in a young European player.

Elisee Assui, an Italian-born guard, has garnered interest from the Horns as well as the Wisconsin Badgers, Missouri Tigers, and Clemson Tigers.

The 19-year-old athlete recently played in the Adidas Next Gen EuroLeague for Team Dubai and averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. In the 2024 U18 FIBA tournament, he averaged 12 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game.

Currently, Assui is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.4 points, and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc.

What would Elisee Assui bring to Texas?

At 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, the small forward would add a good amount of size to a Texas roster that Miller has been working to beef up since the departure of senior center Kadin Shedrick.

His ability to consistently shoot the ball from range would also bring a different side of offensive power to the Longhorns' roster, which currently has returners Jordan Pope, Chendall Weaver, and Tramon Mark, who all excel at driving to the basket.

Beyond the returners, Miller has brought in four commitments to the program. His former Xavier players, Dailyn Swain and Lassina Traore. He has also received commitments from former Purdue forward Camden Heide and former Florida Atlantic center Matas Vokietaitis.
