Putting a bow on the Horns' non-conference schedule for the upcoming season, Texas head coach Sean Miller added none other than the Baylor Bears to the docket.
The Texas Longhorns haven't shared a court with the Bears since 2024, when the two still shared the Big 12 as their home conference. However, Baylor has still been considered a high-major program and presents a perfect challenge for the Horns ahead of their SEC schedule.

However, beyond the big-time matchup between the two Texas-based teams, Miller hopes to get a little more out of it than a possible win on his squad's resume.
"This allows us to tap into our San Antonio fan base, and in particular our great relationship with the San Antonio Spurs," Miller said. "The Spurs come to Moody Center and play, and now we can reciprocate and go to where they call their home court."
While the two teams are based just an hour and a half apart along I-35, the highway that cuts through all of Texas, they will actually head another two hours south of Austin to San Antonio to play each other at the San Antonio Spurs' home arena.
Over the last few years, since the University of Texas built and opened its state-of-the-art arena, the Moody Center, the Spurs have traveled up to Austin to play a couple of games each season, even facing the Houston Rockets and Longhorn Legend Kevin Durant in the past.
Miller hopes that the relationship between his team and the NBA franchise can continue to blossom, as well as the idea that the Horns' fanbase based down the road in San Antonio could grow.
Of course, there is one big problem that is leading quite a few people to believe that the Longhorns may struggle to draw a crowd: the football schedule.
The Texas men's basketball team is now scheduled to play Baylor on Sunday, Nov. 15, just one day after the Longhorns football team will have been in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to play the LSU Tigers on the road.

The last time the two teams met was in 2024, when Baylor topped Texas in a 93-85 victory in Waco. About a month and a half earlier in the season, however, the Longhorns secured a 75-73 upset victory over the Bears at the Moody Center.

Since the 1999-00 season, the Horns have gone 32-23 against Baylor. While Miller hasn't coached against the Bears as the Texas men's basketball head coach, the Bears' HC Scott Drew has gone 23-25 against the Longhorns.
