In a recent recruiting win, despite a blood-letting of coaches, coordinators, and assistants, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns landed a three-star tight end over a handful of other powerhouse teams.
JT Geraci, a three-star prospect from the class of 2027, committed to the Horns earlier this week, choosing Texas over elite programs like Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, and more.
A native of New Jersey, Geraci's commitment was a massive step in the right direction for Sarkisian's upcoming recruiting class, which only ranks 11th in the nation (the team's lowest recruiting ranking in the last few years).
JT Geraci waves goodbye to Ohio State, Georgia, and more
One of Geraci's older brothers played at Michigan, with the other playing tight end at Dartmouth, so it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that he decided not to betray his family and play for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
However, as Texas continues to struggle to reach the National Championship game, it is extremely exciting that a blue-chip prospect like Geraci would choose the Longhorns over teams like Alabama, which consistently bring titles home.

The young tight end has already taken 25 visits throughout his recruiting process, with zero official visits on the books, but has yet to take a trip to Austin, committing to the Longhorns without setting foot on Texas's campus.
Geraci is just the third player to commit to the Horns from the class of 2027, joining five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, who is the No. 1 wideout in the cycle and the No. 7 overall prospect, and three-star safety Greedy James.
Currently, Texas's upcoming class ranks fifth in the SEC, trailing both of the Longhorns' rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M Aggies, as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.
