Just a few days after students were packing their dorms and apartments for summer vacation, Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian was already back on the 40 Acres, saying that he was ready for summer practices to get underway.
The Texas Longhorns wrapped up spring training in April, but now, just a couple of weeks later, Sarkisian shared that his team would be back on campus on June 1.
This year, there is even more pressure than usual on the Horns as experts and analysts across the country expect them to run through the SEC, if not all the way to the National Championship.
Between a beefed-up offensive line, additional star power in the backfield, and a rebuilt defense, the Texas football team is stuffed to the gills with top-tier talent. Now, it's nearly time for the talent to get back to work.

"Part of the problem is everyone is chasing one end goal. We live in an era that’s 'playoff or bust,'" Sarkisian said. "I feel for people. Only 12 [teams] get in. That's disappointment for a majority of the fan bases."
In the world of college football, Sarkisian is right about it being playoff or bust, with head coaches across the country seeing their positions terminated after repeatedly failing to reach the postseason.
Over the last three years, Sarkisian has led the Longhorns to two College Football Playoff appearances, making it all the way to the semifinals in the first-ever 12-team CFP in 2025. However, he hasn't been able to take the next step.

Texas hasn't been in the National Championship game since 2009, when the Horns lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Sarkisian's ultimate role is to take them back there, something he hasn't been able to do yet.
With stars like quarterback Arch Manning, running back Hollywood Smothers, and wide receiver Cam Coleman turning the Longhorns into an offensive powerhouse, hope is rising in Austin for an even deeper run in this season's CFP.
