A day after new LSU HC Lane Kiffin blew up social media with his statements, Steve Sarkisian decided to try and one-up the former Rebels coach by dropping an absolute bomb regarding Ole Miss' academics.
Leading up to the viral quote, Sarkisian talked about how Texas only accepts 50% of incoming transfer students' completed credit hours. That part was all fine and good, but he ended the thought with a pretty powerful statement comparing how difficult it is to get a degree at the two schools.
Sark drops a one-liner for the ages
"All you have to do is take basket weaving, and you can get an Ole Miss degree.”
This type of thing makes you adore Sark even more as a member of Longhorn Nation, but as a random fan of college football, it's a pretty wild remark to hear from an opposing head coach. It's one thing to take a shot at a rival SEC football program, but saying something like this directed at the school itself is understandably shocking.
NEW: Steve Sarkisian on Ole Miss’ transfer portal practices and academic standards:

“At Texas, we will only take 50% of a player’s academic credit hours. You may be a semester from graduating, but you’re going all the way back to 50% if you play here and want a degree. But at… pic.twitter.com/1fjQSpal0b
That doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't funny though.
To be 100% honest, most people probably don't realize how hard it is to get into the University of Texas, which is what makes this type of thing pretty warranted from a member of the school.
I don't think it's that surprising for a majority of the population to find out that Ole Miss is fairly easy to get into, seeing that it's basically an "open enrollment" school. It's also known as one of the biggest party schools in America, which is a pretty sizeable knock on the University as well.
Whatever the case, this still doesn't top most of the things that Lane Kiffin's said about the school, and what Steve Sarkisian said is actually true for the most part. It's just incredibly funny how Texas' head coach just went ahead and said it out loud.
It's crazy to witness how the college football world has changed over the years to the point where opposing coaches and schools are taking public shots at each other on what seems like a weekly basis.
At least the entertainment aspect of it helps cut through the boring stretches of the offseason.
