Three and a half months before the Texas Longhorns flew to Columbus to seek revenge over the Ohio State Buckeyes, it was announced that the two powerhouse programs would face each other at... noon.

Yes, you read that right, one of the biggest games of the season, much less one of the biggest games in week one, would take place before half of the country was even awake.

FOX announced that the College Football Playoff rematch game would kick off at noon ET (11 a.m. CT) on Saturday, Aug. 30, much to the chagrin of college football fans across the nation.

One Ohio State fan responded to the announcement, saying, "Big Noon Kickoff is the worst thing to happen to American sports."

On the other side of the aisle, Texas fans were just as upset that their team would have to play before their internal clocks even hit the midday point. Many fans even went as far as to say that Longhorn and Buckeye fans had found common ground while being upset about the kickoff time.

In almost every single preseason poll, both the Horns and the Buckeyes are projected top-five teams, with returning stars like Texas quarterback Arch Manning and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith set to take another step in their young careers.

Ohio State's stadium is (in)famous for being loud, raucous, and difficult for visiting teams to win at, no matter what time of day the game is. However, the atmosphere during a night game at "The Horseshoe" is unlike many other venues in the world.

Nonetheless, Texas and Ohio State are scheduled to kick off their 2025 campaigns at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 30, in Columbus, OH. The pregame and in-game broadcast will be provided by FOX.
