Per an official release from the university on Feb. 18, the regular season home opener for No. 16 Texas baseball (2-1, 0-0 SEC) against the Houston Cougars (2-1, 0-0 Big 12) has been canceled due to "inclement weather".
Home opener for Texas baseball vs. Houston canceled due to weather
Texas and head coach Jim Schlossnagle were scheduled to host their former Big 12 foe Houston in the regular season home opener at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. CT. But weather delays in the area canceled the festivities at the Disch on Tuesday night.
The Longhorns will be at the Disch this weekend for the de facto home opener in a three-game series against the Dartmouth Big Green (0-0, 0-0 Ivy League) starting Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Last weekend, the Longhorns won two out of three games in the Shriners Children's College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, to open up the 2025 regular season and the Schloss era at Texas. Texas closed out the College Showdown over the weekend with two consecutive convincing wins over the Ole Miss Rebels by double digits on Saturday night (10-0), and a 14-8 victory over the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowboys on Sunday night.
Texas nearly had a perfect weekend to start the 2025 season at the College Showdown, falling to the Louisville Cardinals in a tough 4-3 walk-off loss in 10 innings on Feb. 14.
Schloss and the Longhorns have four consecutive games at the Disch before another neutral site weekend in the Las Vegas Classic from Feb. 28-March 2.
