The Texas Longhorns have stormed into the 2025 baseball season and have subsequently stormed into the SEC, their new conference. In the Horns' first conference series of the season, Texas swept the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a three-game series.
During the second game of the series, which Texas won 5-3, outfield Tommy Farmer IV made the first out of the final inning with an incredible, diving catch to send MSU's Bryce Chance back to the dugout.
On Monday, Farmer got a special shoutout from ESPN. SportsCenter's Top 10 plays included the Longhorn star's impressive play at No. 7 on the list.

Following the TV appearance by Farmer's big-time catch, fellow teammates and head coach Jim Schlossnagle continued the hype around the outfielder's play. Farmer had a great series against the Bulldogs, beyond the television-worthy catch, despite struggling to find his swing against the Mississippi State bullpen.
In the series sweep, Texas defeated Mississippi State 8-7, 5-3 (seven innings), and 4-1 (seven innings). With the three conference victories, the Horns extended their winning streak to 17 games and their overall record to 17-1.
Before continuing their conference scheduled against the LSU Tigers, the Longhorns will host the UTSA Roadrunners for one game. Then, Texas will have to face No. 2 LSU in a three-game series which will be their first at-home series against an SEC opponent.
The Longhorns and the Roadrunners are scheduled to throw out the first pitch at 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 18. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+.
