When it comes to recruiting battles, Steve Sarkisian is always going to love delivering a proverbial Stone Cold Stunner to Mike Elko and Texas A&M. That very much could be in play soon when it comes to four-star offensive tackle R'Monie Edwards, a stud in-state prospect for Cy Ranch High over in Cypress.
The 2028 hoss was just in Austin for an unofficial visit this past weekend to watch UT record its unforgettable comeback win over Ohio State. And shortly after returning home, it looks like he is seriously considering playing for Texas in the future. That is because multiple predictions have come in for him to eventually commit to the Longhorns. This would be a huge get for Sark if he closes this one out:

The Texas win over Ohio State could send things over the top for 4-star OL R'Monie Edwards
For a little while now, it has been made clear that Edwards has strong interest in Texas. At the same time, he has also been giving the Aggies a serious look, too. Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma and others have been involved here as well, but the two SEC in-state programs have been the ones to make the most noise so far.
Edwards is also no stranger to College Station, taking several visits to A&M country last season. Elko has been working tirelessly to reel in his verbal pledge, but it is now Texas and Sark in the driver's seat. Let's be real here too, can you blame Edwards for potentially committing to the Longhorns after what he just saw against Ohio State?
Not at all. Plenty of people thought Texas was left for dead in the second half, entering the fourth quarter down 20-3. Despite that, Arch Manning and Co. dazzled in the final 15 minutes and pulled off the historic comeback. Texas has a loaded recruiting weekend, with 5-star commit Easton Royal among those blown away with how everything went down.
Of course, he was not the only prospect left favorably impressed, with Edwards of course on the list. Per the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder is ranked four stars, the No. 5 offensive tackle in the 2028 class, and No. 4 player overall out of Texas. Sark is always going to want to keep the top talent home and he is in a prime spot to do so with Edwards at the one yard line, so to speak.
Thus far for the '28 haul, Texas has a lone commitment from Florida quarterback Neimann Lawrence. Lawrence, the No. 5 QB in the country, was also a huge pledge for UT. Might Edwards be ready to join Lawrence in Austin soon with a commitment of his own? That is very much on the table moving forward, which will be great news for the Longhorn, but bad news for the Aggies.
