As the Florida Gators come to the 40 Acres to take on the No. 7 Texas Longhorns, they are already grappling with the possibility of being without starting quarterback Aaron Philo as well as star wide receivers Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton.
However, they also have to grapple with the fact that Texas defensive lineman Justus Terry could suit up for the Horns on Saturday, according to the latest availability report out of Austin.
Terry hasn't been in action since the Horns' first game of the season, when he earned three total tackles (two solo) against the Texas State Bobcats.
The sophomore defensive lineman suffered a foot injury during warm-ups ahead of the Week 2 game against Ohio State and has been sidelined ever since. Now, we could see his return to the field as an already shaky Florida offensive unit comes to town.
If he returns to play on Saturday, it should undeniably strike fear into the heart of Florida backup quarterback Tramell Jones, who is looking more and more like the starter this week.
Justus Terry can combine with Rasheem Biles, Colin Simmons, more to dismantle Gators O-Line
So far this season, the Gators' offensive line has already given up eight sacks for 57 yards and 31 tackles for loss, including a season-high 11 TFLs allowed against the Missouri Tigers.
And none of the defenses that Florida has faced so far this season can compare to that of the Longhorns, especially with Terry possibly returning to the rotation.
So far this season, the Horns have already amassed 18 sacks for 115 yards alongside 40 tackles for loss. Edge rushers Colin Simmons and Lance Jackson have combined with linebacker Rasheem Biles to absolutely dismantle offensive lines, and that could undoubtedly be the case against Florida.
While the Gators' O-Line may be at full health, the prospect of having a backup quarterback in the backfield, without two of your three best receivers on the field, should have Florida fans extremely nervous.
If Philo can't go on Saturday, it would be Jones slinging the rock. For reference, Jones has 64 career pass attempts. Simmons has 66 career solo tackles.
For now, Philo, Brown, and Stockton are all listed as "questionable" for the matchup on Saturday, so the Gators could technically have them available, and there are still a few availability updates to come. However, the Horns listed Terry as "probable," making his return to the lineup feel imminent.
No. 7 Texas and Florida are scheduled to play at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 17, and it could be a true test of depth for the Gators, while the Horns are simply looking for a dominant, bounce-back win after losing last weekend.
