Texas fans waste no time going all in on the Horns during 1st half vs. Texas State

If you aren't absolutely buzzing with excitement, then you must not have tuned into the first half of the Texas Longhorns' game against the Texas State Bobcats.

It took just one drive for the Horns to find their footing, resulting in the first-ever touchdown connection between quarterback Arch Manning and wide receiver Cam Coleman.

Then, Manning connected with wideout Ryan Wingo for another touchdown just a few minutes later. Then, he tossed the ball to running back Raleek Brown for a 13-yard rushing touchdown. Then, linebacker Rasheem Biles forced a fumble, and Graceson Littleton scooped it up for a 59-yard touchdown return.

Simply put, the Longhorns were on freaking fire in the first half against the Bobcats, and Texas State didn't have any answers.

Immediately, fans threw any lingering hesitations out the window and fell in love with this Texas football team.

An improved offensive line, an incredible running back room, an even better receiving corps, and a continuously dominant defense were all on display over the first 30 minutes.

You could feel it in the air in Austin; the Longhorns looked as good as they have looked in a very long time, and it led to immediate excitement on the 40 Acres.

Longhorns can't help but be positive about first 30 minutes vs. Bobcats

Even after Texas State finally found the end zone, and even when Manning threw an interception with just six seconds left on the clock, fans were feeling much more settled at halftime than they had just a few hours earlier.

No, the half wasn't perfect, but it was clean and it was exciting, and the Horns were up 28-7 as they headed to the locker room.

"Regroup. The games are never gonna be perfect," head coach Steve Sarkisian said. "It's how you respond to adversity."

Even with the interception, Manning went 15-of-20 for 203 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. More notably, Brown and Hollywood Smothers combined for 81 yards, with true-freshman running back Derrek Cooper tacking on six rushing yards of his own.

Will Muschamp's defensive prowess on full display vs. Texas State

One of the biggest takeaways from the half was how good the Longhorns looked on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

While the O-Line finally managed to give Manning time to make plays in the pocket, the defensive line continued to excel, and defensive coordinator Will Muschamp's aggressive style of play calling was on full display.

Biles' punch-out was one highlight of a performance that held an up-tempo offense to just seven points in the first half.

However, the defensive secondary could still use a little work, giving up 138 passing yards to Texas State quarterback Brad Jackson, who repeatedly connected with his go-to targets: Chris Dawn Jr. and Beau Sparks.

There is obviously an entire second half to play still, but Longhorn Nation should feel good after the first-half performance by this Texas squad.
