Texas football made a couple of staff changes yesterday, parting ways with both Director of Scouting Errin Joe, and RBs coach Chad Scott.

Joe, who joined Texas in 2025, played a big role in putting together the Longhorns' 2026 recruiting class that contains 14 total blue-chip players including 5-star's Dia Bell and Jermaine Bishop. Though he only spent one full season in Austin, his presence will be missed going forward.

He left to take the position of General Manager at North Texas alongside Neal Brown, who also acted as an analyst for Texas this season.

Scott also joined the Longhorns in 2025 and was a valuable member of the coaching staff in a season where multiple things went wrong from both a team and position group standpoint. Scott had the task of working with CJ Baxter in 2025 and ensuring that he'd be ready to go for the regular season, as well as developing the younger players in the running back room.

Baxter looked pretty good at the start of the season, but unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury after the first few games. Not having Baxter took quite a toll on the offense in certain down and distance situations because they didn't have another player with the type of size that he has. This led to a less efficient offense on third downs throughout the year.

Scott will surely have a long list of suitors in the offseason, and could potentially follow Neal Brown to North Texas as well. They have a long history of coaching together at West Virginia and it would keep Scott in-state, where he has a decent-sized footprint in recruiting right now.
