Texas is going all-in to flip current Georgia Tech commit Jason Crenshaw Jr.

Texas is riding a wave of momentum both on the field and off of it, and that includes the Longhorns offering three-star linebacker Jason Crenshaw Jr., who is currently committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

However, since the Horns extended him an offer, hoping to flip him in their direction from the ACC program, a slew of other powerhouse teams have offered Crenshaw as well.

So, what else could Steve Sarkisian and his staff do but host Crenshaw for an official visit as the Longhorns are simultaneously hosting the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels?

Just two weeks ago, Texas rolled the dice and hosted nearly three dozen blue-chip prospects over the same weekend that the team was facing the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes. It paid off pretty darn well, so why not do it again?

Now, Crenshaw is scheduled to take an OV to the 40 Acres over October 24-25, the same weekend that the Rebels are set to come to town, the second top-four home matchup of the Horns' season.

Longhorns bring a little unwanted national attention to 3-star linebacker

However, as I just said, when Texas offered Crenshaw, it brought previously unfelt attention to the three-star linebacker's recruitment process, also bringing additional competition for the Horns to go up against.

Since the Longhorns sent Crenshaw an offer, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Florida Gators, and Georgia Bulldogs have followed suit.

"It’s crazy. It’s surreal. It’s good to see all the hard work is paying off," Crenshaw told recruiting insider Larry Rudolph about the influx of offers.

Yes, the linebacker undoubtedly deserves the attention, but it does make the task of flipping Crenshaw to Texas that much more difficult for Sarkisian and his recruiting staff.

The best news is that the Horns had their offer in before this onslaught of offers from other Power Conference teams, and the impression that a recruit can take away from a ranked matchup at DKR is nearly impossible for any other program to hold a candle to.

Crenshaw is a top-100 linebacker in the class of 2027 and a top-50 prospect out of the state of Alabama. So far, he has taken just five total visits, including only one trip to Georgia Tech, alongside two trips apiece to UNC and Kentucky, according to On3 and Rivals.

While he isn't currently committed to a team that Texas crosses paths with very often, flipping him to the Longhorns would be a massive win, especially to ensure that he doesn't commit to any of the other programs that have offered him as of late.
