As the Texas Longhorns continue to put the finishing touches on their recruiting class of 2027, they have not taken their foot off the gas for the class of 2028 to follow.
That has included zeroing in and focusing on five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright, the No. 1 wideout in the 2028 cycle, the No. 1 prospect out of Florida, and the No. 3 overall recruit in the class.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, Wright announced he had narrowed his pool of potential programs to just three teams: the Horns, the Florida Gators, and the Miami Hurricanes. It was massive news for Texas, but of course, it meant that Steve Sarkisian and his staff had the tall task ahead of them of beating out Wright's home-state powerhouses for his commitment.
The best news is that none of those top three teams will have to wait long for his decision, Rivals' Hayes Fawcett reporting that Wright would make his commitment on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Landing Brysen Wright could be the exact revenge Texas needs against Florida
Not only did the Gators upset the Horns on the field earlier this season, but just a few days earlier, they stole five-star wide receiver Easton Royal from Texas's recruiting class of 2027. It was a move that had been a long time coming, but it stung.
So, if the Longhorns were able to land Wright, instead of him staying home to go to Florida or Miami, it would be a massive win for Sarkisian, and a little bit of exacted revenge against the Gators.
Additionally, it would complete a trifecta of blue-chip recruits committed to the Longhorns from the recruiting cycle.
Longhorns' class of 2028 could lead to a dynamic offense in the near future
So far, Sarkisian has landed just two commitments from the class of 2028, but those commitments came in the form of four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence and four-star running back Micah Rhodes.
Both are top-15 prospects for their position, and despite being Texas's lone commitments from the cycle, they already have the Horns with a top-15 recruiting class of 2028.
The addition of a five-star prospect, especially one as elite as Wright is expected to be, would undeniably propel the Longhorns' group of prospects toward the top 10, if not push them over the brink of yet another elite class.
Sarkisian's class of 2027 ranks No. 9 in the nation and features blue-chip recruits like five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara and five-star running back Laden Williams-Callis. Simply put, the Horns are building an offensive powerhouse on the 40 Acres; now it's just time to see if Texas can use those elite weapons to actually win on a consistent basis.
