The coaching carousel continues to turn as the Texas Longhorns ramp up spring practices and prepare for the 2025 season. Most recently, former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown has emerged as a target for a role within the Horns' program.
Brown coached the WVU Mountaineers for five years and led the team to a 37-35 overall record, including two bowl game victories. In his final season at West Virginia, he coached just nine games in which the Mountaineers finished 5-4 overall.

It was not reported which role that Texas is specifically targeting Brown to fill but from the looks of it, he would step into a staff role and not a coaching position.
Brown coached WVU against the Longhorns in four games and defeated the Horns in 2021, which was Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian's first season with the team. Texas and West Virginia did not play each other in the Horns' final season as a part of the Big 12. In 2022, Sarkisian and the Horns secured a dominant 38-20 win over WVU.
Already this offseason, Texas has made a few coaching changes as some moved on to the next level and Sarkisian filled the vacant roles. The Longhorns named Chad Scott as their newest running backs coach after Tashard Choice left for the Detroit Lions.
The Longhorns will not have a spring game this year after the program decided to cancel the event, but Texas will kick off its 2025 season on Aug. 30 with a big-time rematch against the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus.
