Texas women's basketball has gone up against some powerful teams this past season. One of those teams that they had a tough time with was the South Carolina Gamecocks. Even though the Longhorns were able to pull off an upset against them in February, they still struggled against them in the other matchups, including the Final Four.

However, that's not the main team they need to be worried about next season. Here is the team the Longhorns should be very concerned about next season.

The Tennessee Volunteers had a great season in Kim Caldwell's first season as the head coach. If it weren't for such a loaded conference, they could easily be in the conference championship every season. However, the Volunteers might be more of a threat this upcoming season than they were last season.

They have a lot of talent coming in that could pose a threat against the Longhorns. Just when you thought the Longhorns only had to deal with the Gamecocks, the Volunteers have knocked down the door.

Which SEC women's basketball players will pose a threat next season?

Caldwell was able to recruit two powerhouse players in the transfer portal this offseason. Former SMU guard Nya Robertson is a double-digit scorer who ended up in double digits in all the games she played last season.

That's someone who could pose a threat when she's known for attacking the rim. The Longhorns are going to have to close off any lanes towards the basket, or else the Longhorns could be left in the dust this upcoming season.

Another addition they added from the portal is former LSU forward Jersey Wolfenbarger. Someone who knows the ins and outs of this conference. Wolfenbarger will be protecting their rim at all costs.

That's someone who will have to defend the rim from Madison Booker and Rori Harmon next season. The Longhorns will have to set up some plays to get Wolfenbarger tied up so she can't block their lay-up attempts.

Along with those two prized transfer portal additions, the Volunteers have the second-best freshman class, which will give Caldwell a lot of options next season. That's what scares me about the Volunteers because they will have numerous good options to choose from, resulting in a very deep roster. Any team in the SEC should be very wary of how good the Volunteers will be next season.

The Longhorns will have an upgraded roster with some of the new forwards they acquired from the portal, but the Volunteers upgraded their entire roster. Caldwell could have the best team in the SEC next season. However, we won't know how good the Volunteers are until they play some basketball games.

While they look good on paper before the season, things could completely fall apart in non-conference play. However, you can't count out the Volunteers from being in contention for the SEC Title next season.
