The Texas Longhorns broke the internet when they landed a commitment from wide receiver Cam Coleman out of the transfer portal.
Since then, the reports coming out of the 40 Acres have done nothing but exalt the wideout and his budding connection with starting quarterback Arch Manning.
However, it wasn't until Texas's fall camp that Coleman entered the best-wide-receiver-in-the-nation conversation, with a handful of jaw-dropping catches.
Now, Coleman has reached the heights of star wide receivers across the country, including the Ohio State Buckeyes' Jeremiah Smith and the Miami Hurricanes' Malachi Toney.
In fact, the Horns' new star wideout is now projected as one of the most highly coveted players in the 2027 NFL Draft, with some projections having him go as the top wide receiver and likely within the first 10 picks.
Rookie Watch shared that "Cam Coleman is reportedly thought to have “Top-5 pick” potential by several NFL scouts. One NFL scout reportedly believes there’s “shades of both” AJ Green and Julio Jones to Coleman’s game."
Even Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has compared Coleman to Julio Jones, and he should know, he was Jones' offensive coordinator in 2017 and 2018.
Of course, with how much talent is on Texas's roster, it isn't a surprise that the Longhorns would be able to boast a top-five pick, but Coleman is far from the only player at Texas who is projected as the top pick at his position.
Arch Manning, Colin Simmons, and more Longhorns projected as 1st-round picks
Since he first picked up a football, Manning has pretty much been projected as a first-round NFL Draft pick. The expected talent that comes with his last name has been fortified by his actual on-field and in-game skills.
Unsurprisingly, he is still a projected first-rounder, and he is joined by quite a few of his teammates, including defensive edge rusher Colin Simmons, offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, and now Coleman.
ESPN's Jordan Reid included Manning, Coleman, and Simmons in the top 10 of his most recent mock 2027 NFL Draft. The Athletic's Dane Brugler included Manning, Simmons, and Goosby in his projected top eight picks.
Simply put, experts are predicting that the Longhorns will flood the draft boards, setting them up to take over the NFL, and with that much talent on the roster, Sarkisian and Texas are primed to also take over college football.
Coleman was the cherry on top of a team that was already flush with talent, and a nice addition to an offense in need of more playmakers.
In 247Sports' latest team talent composite rankings, the Horns rang in at fourth, only trailing the Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, and Alabama Crimson Tide.
