Just two days ago, the Texas Longhorns were favored to beat the Georgia Bulldogs in their College World Series opening game. Then, the Horns were left speechless as the Dawgs demolished them in a 7-1 loss for Texas.
Now, Texas must play the Alabama Crimson Tide in a win-or-go-home game that could cut the Horns off at the knees if they approach the matchup in the same way that they approached their first game in Omaha.

In the elimination game, the Longhorns are favored over the Crimson Tide, despite earning just a 1.5-run edge over Alabama. Even with such a small spread, Texas is favored heavily on the moneyline, sitting at -250 while the Tide is heading into the matchup with just +190 odds on the line. However, just a few days ago, the Horns were also favored to defeat the Bulldogs, which clearly didn't pan out as oddsmakers expected.
Texas baseball vs. Georgia odds in the College World Series
- Spread: -1.5 runs, Texas
- Total: +/-11.5 runs
- Moneyline: -250 Texas, +190 Alabama
So, even with the moneyline heavily in Texas's favor, the Longhorns and head coach Jim Schlossnagle cannot take this matchup lightly, especially since a loss would end their run in the College World Series and send them back to the 40 Acres.

2026 College World Series title odds
Yet, in an additional nod to Texas and its chances of keeping the season alive, the Longhorns are still one of the frontrunners to win the College World Series title, despite being in the losers' bracket after opening weekend.
- North Carolina Tar Heels -105
- Georgia Bulldogs +160
- Oklahoma Sooners +1000
- Texas Longhorns +1400
- West Virginia Mountaineers +1800
- Alabama Crimson Tide +7500
- Troy Trojans +8000
- Ole Miss Rebels - ELIMINATED
Even after its disastrous 7-1 loss to Georgia, Texas is still in the top half of the odds to win it all, and the Crimson Tide, after an even more disastrous 9-0 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners, is barely favored ahead of the Troy Trojans, the only non-Power Conference team in Omaha.
When Texas and Alabama met in the regular season, the Horns fell just shy of pulling off a series sweep, winning the first two games (10-2 and 3-1, respectively) of the matchup but losing the third game in a narrow 1-2 victory for the Crimson Tide.
This time around, Schlossnagle has senior pitcher Ruger Riojas starting on the mound for Texas, hopefully minimizing the runs that Alabama can rack up, earned or unearned, while the Longhorns' offense works to rediscover its usually dominant batting.
