To the surprise of no one, the No. 7 Texas Longhorns are favored, at home, over the unranked Florida Gators. However, just how many points the Horns are favored by could be the underestimation of the century.

Despite the Horns having one of the most dominant defenses in the country, and the Gators possibly being without a handful of their star offensive players, Texas is favored by less than two touchdowns...

Final spread, moneyline, total for No. 7 Texas vs. Florida

  • Spread: -11.5 Texas, +11.5 Florida
  • Moneyline: -420 Texas, +320 Florida
  • Over/Under: +/-51.5 points

As the Longhorns and Gators take the field, Texas is only favored by 11.5 points over Florida. Making the spread even more questionable is the fact that the point total is set at a whopping 51.5 points. That would equate to the final score being somewhere in the ballpark of 31-20, a pretty mediocre showing for a group that was just the No. 1 team in the country.

Texas is looking to bounce back after the upset loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry. The Longhorns are going to be out for blood. The Gators are going to be fighting for their lives.

And oddsmakers in Vegas think Florida will be able to score nearly three touchdowns while giving up only 30 or 31 points? Yeah, right.

Final prediction for the Longhorns vs. the Gators

I fully believe that head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Will Muschamp not only have the opportunity to take the leashes of their guys, but I think that they have to.

This is also a game where quarterback Arch Manning and the rest of the offense must find their footing, including running backs Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown, who have fallen short of expectations so far this season.

Defensive stars Colin Simmons, Rasheem Biles, Lance Jackson, and possibly even Justus Terry need to have the game of their lives in response to the loss last week.

In other words, it is time for Texas football to return and for the Longhorns to show why they were ranked No. 1 in the country. Last week wasn't the Texas that the Horns can be. This week, we had better see the Texas that the Horns are.

Final score prediction: Texas 35, Florida 14
