The Texas baseball team finished off the regular season with a bang, securing a dominant series sweep over the Missouri Tigers.
Now, with a 40-12 overall record and a four-game winning streak in their back pocket, the Texas Longhorns are set to take on the SEC Tournament, and the Horns earned byes through the first two rounds as the No. 2 seed in the bracket.
While Texas doesn't know their first opponent quite yet, suddenly, the Longhorns are on a crash course to face one of their biggest rivals in program history: none other than the Texas A&M Aggies.
No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Texas A&M on same side of SEC bracket
The Horns have to get through their first game of the conference tournament, where they will face the winner of the second-round game between No. 7 Arkansas and the winner of the first-round game between Tennessee and South Carolina.
Similarly, the Aggies would have to defeat their quarterfinal opponent, which will be the winner of the second-round game between Auburn and the winner of the first-round game between Oklahoma and LSU.
Then, if the top seeds win out, the Longhorns would face Texas A&M in the semifinals of the SEC Baseball Tournament, deciding which seed would advance to the conference championship game.

When the two played each other in the regular season, the Horns barely avoided a sweep, with the third game being cancelled due to inclement weather. However, the Aggies secured wins in the first two games, exposing flaws in a previously almost-flawless Texas team.
The Longhorns could also face the Oklahoma Sooners, yet another rival, who Texas swept in the regular season. Similarly, the Horns could play their third conference rival, the Arkansas Razorbacks, who they didn't face in the regular season this year.
Texas played the South Carolina Gamecocks in a regular-season series, winning two out of the three games. Tennessee earned the series win over the Longhorns, winning two of their three games between the two UTs. Texas and LSU did not play in the regular season.
