With over 850 total yards to his name after just one full season with the Texas Longhorns, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if Ryan Niblett lived and breathed college football.
The redshirt sophomore quickly became known as a return specialist, even earning a spot on the All-SEC first team for the role, posting 738 return yards in 2025. However, the most important thing in Niblett's life isn't the Horns, or the SEC, or football in general.
It's his daughter.
After Day 2 of fall camp, Niblett spoke to members of the media and couldn't hold back his grin while talking about how much his daughter means to him, reminding everyone in attendance, or anyone who sees clips of his answers, that football players are humans too.
"Even on my bad days, I can come home, and she's smiling," Niblett said. "It'll make me wanna do it all over again. She just gives me that extra 'mmph.'"
Any source of extra motivation is incredible for an athlete, much less the constant love like that of a child, also serving as a reset even after the bad games or brutal practices.

Of course, Niblett is far from the first college football player to have a child while still in school. In fact, he just spent the last two seasons at Texas alongside fellow fathers Andrew Mukuba and Jaylon Guilbeau.
Both Mukuba and Guilbeau were defensive backs for the Horns, so they weren't exactly earning reps or snaps at the same time as Niblett, but he shared that he has absolutely leaned on their experience as parents since his daughter was born last August.
"Definitely Jaylon Guilbeau. We talk about it all the time. His daughter just turned 1. My daughter's birthday is in 18 days, so I'm getting ready for that," Mukuba said.
Now, none of this is to say that Niblett doesn't care about football. He suits up right alongside his teammates every day for practice and puts on his jersey every Saturday of the season just like everybody else.
However, it was undeniably refreshing to see the human side of a player come out when given the opportunity to talk about the very thing that matters most to him.

Originally recruited to Texas as both a running back and a wide receiver, Niblett quickly earned his spot as a star return man in 2025, most notably returning a punt 79 yards for a touchdown to force overtime against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
After appearing in only four games in 2024, he earned a significant increase in snaps last season. Over the last two years, he has amassed 38 rushing yards for one touchdown, 84 receiving yards, 476 punt-return yards for two touchdowns, and 262 kickoff-return yards.
This season, with his soon-to-be 1-year-old daughter in tow, don't be surprised if all of those stats see an increase in all of those numbers.
