Texas Longhorns will get an inside look into the life of beloved QB Vince Young

Five years ago, Netflix debuted its film series Untold. Now, that very series will give the Texas Longhorns an inside look at the life of beloved and National Championship-winning quarterback Vince Young.

After being a Heisman Trophy finalist and leading the Horns to a National Championship win over the USC Trojans, Young was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft with high expectations circling overhead.

Then, throughout a far-from-ideal career in the league, Young fell short of those expectations time and time again.

Untold is reported to give the Texas quarterback's perspective on the "injuries, conflict, and sudden loss [that] complicated his story."

Netflix announces Untold films on Vince Young, Raygun, and Mr. T

In a statement released by Netflix, the newest film episodes are scheduled to roll out every week beginning Aug. 25, with Young's episode set to kick off this year's series:

• "The Testimony of Vince Young | The story of the Texas Longhorns legend who was NFL's next big thing — until injuries, conflict, and sudden loss complicated his story.
• Raygun: Breaking Badly | Revisiting Rachel Gunn’s performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the avalanche of memes, misinformation, and conspiracy theories that followed.
• Mr. T: I Pity The Fool | The extraordinary origin story behind Laurence Tureaud -- one of the most unlikely and beloved icons in entertainment."

Along with the episode on Young's personal life and shaky football career are episodes on Rachel Gunn, the Australian Olympic break dancer known as "Raygun," and Laurence Tureaud, the actor and wrestler known as "Mr. T."

During Young's six-year playing career in the NFL, five seasons spent with the Tennessee Titans, the Longhorn Legend earned just 8,964 passing yards for a lopsided 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.

Over the 60 games he appeared in, the once-dominant dual-threat quarterback earned 1,459 rushing yards for a minimal 12 touchdowns, never finding the end zone on the ground after the 2009 season.

For comparison, in two years as the Horns' starting quarterback, Young earned 4,885 passing yards for 38 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. He amassed 2,129 rushing yards for 26 touchdowns and even had a 48-yard reception as well as a two-point conversion.

To this day, Young is considered one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time, but his career at the next level was far from great. Maybe, just maybe, this Netflix film episode will give an even better explanation of what happened than ever before.
