Ever since Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton entered the transfer portal, there's been tons of smoke regarding the possibility of him ending up at Texas in 2026. Yes, it's just speculation, but something happened yesterday that definitely falls in line with that idea.
Nick Brooks, the Longhorns' top OL recruit from 2025, surprisingly hit the transfer portal around 4:00pm on Tuesday. Not only does this make sense if the team's actually working on offering Jordan Seaton a huge NIL deal, but it opens up another scholarship spot along the offensive line for the Texas.
If Jordan Seaton transfers to Texas..

It would open the possibility for the Longhorns to be the second team in NFL Draft History with TWO Tackles Drafted in the Top 10 of the same Draft.

Brooks was also a highly regarded player amongst the coaching staff so unless something was actually happening, Texas most likely would've done everything they could to keep Brooks, and it doesn't sound like this was the case here.
As things currently stood, Brooks was trending to start at one of the offensive guard spots in 2026 alongside newly acquired Dylan Sikorski, barring another major move along the interior. Brooks displayed excellent versatility and open mindedness as a true freshman, willingly moving inside to left guard when the team needed him to. He ended up starting three game for Steve Sarkisian and Co. in 2025 (Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi State) and performed fairly well in all of them aside from some true freshman mistakes.
Losing the 6'7", 340-pound soon-to-be sophomore after just one season is a huge deal, and it probably means something. Whether that's Seaton or someone else, it definitely feels like another big addition is coming soon.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the Longhorns' most talented up-and-coming blocker decided to leave the team as soon as one of the top offensive tackles in college football entered the portal.
Let's see how things play out over the next few days, because if it's happening, it'll most likely get done by the weekend.
