Things just keep on getting better for Texas and Steve Sarkisian in growing the 2027 class. Moments ago, Sark and Co. got the news they were hoping for, as four star defensive lineman Kasi Currie announced his commitment to the Longhorns. This is a major get for Texas, and one that wasn't expected just a few weeks ago.

That's because in May, predictions came in for Ohio State and Ryan Day to pull off a big-time recruiting win. That's right, the Buckeyes were on the verge of landing Currie, but Texas never gave up with its recruiting efforts. If anything, the Ohio State buzz forced Texas to push even harder, which led to this breaking news.

4-star DL Kasi Currie has committed to Texas in a major win for Steve Sarkisian
On June 5, Currie made his way to Austin for an official visit, and things clearly could not have gone much better for him. While he had him on campus, Sark did everything he could to sell Currie on the kind of future he'd be able to have in the SEC, and it worked like a charm. With Currie being such a touted prospect, it makes things even better for the Longhorns.
According to the 247Sports rankings, the 6-4, 315-pounder is ranked four stars, the No. 2 defensive lineman in the country, No. 5 player out of California, and No. 37 prospect overall for the 2027 class. He picked up 20 offers throughout his recruitment, but Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, and Georgia were the schools getting the most serious looks, as they were his final four.
In the end, Currie knew in his heart that he belonged with Texas, with his most-recent trip to Austin being a total eye-opener. On top of that, he told 247's Blair Angulo that he's fired up to play with his former high school teammate Richard Wesley, a 5-star Texas playmaker who just wrapped up his freshman season in Austin.
"Really when I got out there (for an official visit), my third time out there, I just really felt like I was at home," Currie said live on the 247Sports YouTube channel."They took care of my family, and it just felt like home."
As you can see from that quote from Currie, his head was turned in a big way during his official visit on campus. Sark and Co. knew how important the weekend was going to be here for this recruiting push, and they knocked things out of the park to post the big-time recruiting win.
