After a back-to-back run through the Women's College World Series, securing two consecutive National Championships, the Texas Longhorns continue to receive their well-deserved flowers.
Most recently, the Horns and star pitcher Teagan Kavan were nominated for ESPYs, awards handed out and hosted by ESPN every year for the greatest individual and team athletic accomplishments, moments, and more.
Kavan was nominated for the Best Championship Performance award, as was the entirety of the Texas softball team. Additionally, the Longhorns were nominated for the Best Team award, yet another tip of the cap to their historic run through the postseason.

Simply put, the world is about to recognize just how great the Texas softball team was this year, if they haven't already realized that about the Longhorns.
Tegan Kavan nominated for Best Championship Performance ESPY
Of course, the Horns aren't the only team, and Kavan isn't the only player who is nominated for the ESPY awards this year.

Texas Longhorns nomated for Best Team ESPY
The Best Team award is pretty broad when it comes to who the finalists are.
The Longhorns were nominated alongside the WNBA's championship-winning Las Vegas Aces, the World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers, the College Football Playoff-winning Indiana Hoosiers, Super Bowl LX-winning Seattle Seahawks, both USA men's and women's hockey teams who won gold at the Olympics, the NBA Finals-winning Knicks, and the Stanley Cup-winning Carolina Hurricanes.
And yes, if you're curious, you can vote for both Kavan and the Longhorns at ESPN's online "polling center."
Of course, if you're asking me, Texas and Kavan already have a leg up on the rest of the finalists in their categories. For starters, they are one of the only back-to-back Champions in the running, alongside the LA Dodgers, who won back-to-back MLB World Series.
More to that point, Kavan, setting herself even further apart, was the first-ever athlete in Women's College World Series to be named as the back-to-back Most Outstanding Player while securing consecutive National Championships.
The 2026 ESPY Awards are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 15, at 6 p.m. CT. The awards show will be broadcast on ABC and the ESPN App. Hopefully, by the end of the night, the Texas Longhorns can bring another trophy or two back to the 40 Acres.
