Over the past couple of months, the Longhorns have been making some excellent headway when it comes to the 2027 crop of offensive linemen, and specifically the blue-chippers. Players like Brian Swanson, Kal-El Johnson, and Reed Ramsier have been trending towards the Longhorns as of late, and now one more high-level OL recruit could be joining the mix.

Texas OL Coach Kyle Flood has been on a hot streak lately, and his success shows no signs of stopping, especially if he's able to sway a couple of the players he's currently talking to.

Peach State OT officially names Texas as a finalist for his commitment

4-star OT Kennedee Jackson from Lithonia High School (Lithonia, GA) has been seen as one of the top offensive tackles in the 2027 class since his sophomore year. Quite a few members of the national media believed that he was a hard lean to one of the in-state schools, Georgia or Georgia Tech, but it hasn't felt that way recently.

Jackson just confirmed that he's still considering other programs, as he just dropped his updated list of schools under consideration for his pledge.

To the relief of the Longhorns' coaching staff, it looks like all of their hard work, especially Coach Flood's, has been paying off. Jackson officially named Texas as one of his top remaining schools, and Steve Sarkisian will undoubtedly be spending more resources on the 300-pound offensive tackle now that there is some more legitimacy to the recruiting effort.

Jackson's a perfect fit for Texas, as he's very athletic and has top-notch movement skills. He's surprisingly good as a puller, keeping his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage and breaking down when attacking linebackers. It's great to see high school offensive linemen being used in various run schemes at the prep-level because it gives college coaches a more advanced glimpse of what the player can do at the next level.

As a pass blocker, he shows a consistent ability to stay on track when it comes to his pass sets, which is vital in pass protection. If an offensive tackle opens his hips and widens out too early, it allows pass rushers to have a shorter path to the quarterback. Already being proficient in that area will undoubtedly go a long way when it comes to how effective he'd be early on in his collegiate career.

He also has a fairly powerful punch and does a good job with hand placement in pass pro, which is a good sign at this stage of his development as well.

Overall, Jackson is a very good OL prospect in the 2027 class, and Texas is doing everything it can to find a way to bring him to Austin.
