The Longhorns got another win today following their wild upset over Texas A&M last night as blue-chip DE Jamarion Carlton flipped to Texas from Baylor. This was also shortly after Steve Sarkisian and Co. gained a commitment from 2027 5-star WR Easton Royal.

Texas EDGE coach LaAllan Clark and DC Pete Kwiatkowski were recruiting Carlton incredibly hard up until the very last second back in July.

Carlton's ability to play both inside and out at the next level makes him and extremely valuable addition to any team, and he has enough talent and size to play as a true freshman in 2026. At close to 6'5" and 260 lbs., Carlton has excellent length and knows how to consistently use it to his advantage both as an edge rusher, and as a run defender on the interior. He does agreat job of fully extending and locking out his elbows at the point of attack, which allows him to shed blocks at a high rate.

His pledge gives the Longhorns their sixth defensive line commit of the 2026 cycle, and their 13th blue-chip recruit.

Texas is absolutely loaded with talent along the defensive line as it is, and players like Carlton, Richard Wesley, and Kosi Okpala gives the team an incredible amount of talent for the future. Defensive line coaches Kenny Baker and LaAllan Clark are incredibly happy now that Carlton decided to make things official with Texas.

The Longhorns have been on a heater over the past few weeks, successfully flipping four players since the beginning of November.
