The Longhorns' highest-rated 2027 commit, Easton Royal, just saw his stock rise even more with Rivals.com's updated recruiting rankings.

He was always ranked as a 5-star, but now he's officially ranked as the No.5 overall player in the cycle.

The 5'11", 190-pound speedster has quickly gone from being seen as a "really good" prospect to what some are calling a "can't miss" type of player when it comes to high school recruiting and the wide receiver position.

His straight-line speed and ability to create instant separation from stacked defensive backs have been his calling card, and there's a good chance that it continues at the collegiate level. He ran a 10.3-second 100-meter dash last year, which is incredibly fast for the high school level, and he reportedly ran a 4.29 40-yard dash as well.

That type of speed, and his overall playstyle could remind Texas fans of Matthew Golden, who took NFL scouts by storm following the 2024 season.

Royal's ability dominate defenses with vertical routes, combined with his twitched-up movement skills, could allow him to burst onto the scene as a true freshman for the Longhorns. That is, if he stays committed to Texas, seeing that basically every Power Four team is after him as well.

It'll be interesting to see if he can build off of his explosive junior season in 2025, when he averaged a whopping 24.1 yards per catch and 15.38 yards per carry as a rusher for Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, LA.
