Current Texas commit and the No.3-ranked wide receiver in the class of 2027, Easton Royal, has recently scheduled his official visit to Austin in 2026.

The 5'11", 185-pound speedster from Brother Martin HS in New Orleans, LA, has the potential to be an elite playmaker for the Longhorns once he gets to campus. Texas' No.1 goal is to make sure they don't lose him between now and National Signing Day, because he's one of the most sought-after recruits in the entire cycle right now.

It's a well-known fact that Florida, LSU, and Notre Dame are incredibly hot on his trail, and Royal continues to take visits to those types of places. This doesn't necessarily mean that he's not fully 100% committed to the Longhorns; he's just doing his due diligence as every other recruit does.

Texas WR Coach Chris Jackson has been in constant contact with Royal since May of last year, and one of the biggest reasons why Jackson initially gravitated towards him is because of his speed.

Royal isn't just "fast", he looks like the high school version of Tyreek Hill. Once Royal makes a move to break on his route, he creates instant separation and is usually five to six yards away from the nearest defender by the time he makes the catch. This naturally allows him to be incredibly effective after the catch, consistently running away from defenders for huge gains more often than not.

Though that might be a little more difficult to do against D1 athletes in the SEC, his Olympic-level track speed (10.38 100M) provides some hope that he'll still have success in that area at the college level. Very few receivers in the class of 2027 can simply run a fade and be open by 10+ yards on a consistent basis.

Needless to say, the Longhorns' coaching staff needs to completely blow Royal away during his visit to solidify his commitment.
