No. 1 Texas football and the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs are each dealing with relatively minimal injury issues at most position groups on each side of the ball ahead of the highly-anticipated top-five matchup in the SEC at DKR this weekend.

The second of three SEC-mandated injury reports was released for the Texas-Georgia Week 8 game on Thursday evening (Oct. 17). There were minimal updates for each team's injury report, but there are still some significant things to gleam from the report for the two squads.

Last weekend, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns got starting quarterback Quinn Ewers back from an abdominal strain injury for the 34-3 dominant win in the Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Ewers had his ups and downs against Oklahoma, but got some assistance from the ground game and defense to lift the Longhorns past the Sooners.

Here's a look at the full injury report for the top-five matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 5 Georgia at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX, on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Texas football injury report vs. Georgia

Derek Williams Jr., S (Out)

Sophomore safety Derek Williams Jr. suffered a season-ending lower-body injury on a play in kickoff coverage last weekend in Red River against Oklahoma. Williams started one game and played in four for the Longhorns this season, meaning he'll preserve his redshirt for the extra year of eligibility, which is the good news in an otherwise unfortunate situation for the second-year safety.

Williams registered 11 combined tackles, one defensive stop, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in just under 100 defensive snaps played this fall.

With Williams out for the season, Texas turns to senior Andrew Mukuba, redshirt junior Michael Taaffe, sophomore Jelani McDonald, and freshman Jordon Johnson-Rubell to hold down the top four in the safety rotation for the remainder of the campaign in 2024.

CJ Baxter Jr., RB (Out)

Christian Clark, RB (Out)

Velton Gardner, RB (Out)

Trevor Goosby, OT (Out)

Isaiah Bond, WR (Probable)

Junior wide receiver Isaiah Bond was upgraded from a status of "questionable" to "probable" in Thursday's injury report update. Bond suffered an ankle injury after a weird landing on a passing play for Texas's offense in Red River last weekend. He tried to play through the injury, but wound up re-aggravating it in the second half and was sidelined the rest of the way.

Bond is likely to suit up for the Longhorns' receiving corps in this critical matchup against the Dawgs tomorrow night at DKR.
