Texas vs. OU: Staff predictions for Week 7
In a couple of hours, No. 1 Texas football and the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners will kickoff the 120th meeting in the Red River Rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Oct. 12.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are sizable double-digit favorites in the pre-game betting odds for this Red River matchup against head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners. Texas has moved up to a three-score favorite (17-point spread) in the betting odds early in the afternoon before kickoff against Oklahoma (per FanDuel).
Texas gets redshirt junior starting quarterback Quinn Ewers back for this Red River Rivalry game this afternoon after he missed the last two starts due to an abdominal strain injury. Arch Manning had started the previous two games for the Longhorns after Ewers suffered the abdominal injury in the first half against the UTSA Roadrunners in Week 3 in a 56-7 win at home.
This is the second time in Ewers' career at Texas that he's returned from an injury for Red River against Oklahoma. Ewers registered over 300 total yards, four passing touchdowns, and one interception in a 49-0 win over the Sooners in 2022.
