Texas women's basketball returned to Moody Coliseum to take on the Northwestern State Lady Demons yesterday. The Longhorns were coming off their massive win against the Baylor Bears, in which they trampled them at Dickies Arena. The home crowd got to see plenty of flashes of what made Wednesday afternoon's game so great in the 96-38 win over the Demons.

I wish nothing but the best to the Lady Demons for the rest of the season. I think they were at a massive disadvantage going up against the No.2 team in the country tonight. Once they begin their Southland Conference schedule, they will play teams they should be able to compete against.

Here are four takeaways from tonight's massive blowout of the Lady Demons:

1. Longhorns went on a stampede out of the gate

Texas got off to a quick start against the Lady Demons and that was expected from them. Texas played their usual style of defense and didn't allow the Lady Demons a basket until almost the mid-point of the first quarter. I'm not trying to read into the quick start the Longhorns had because of the quality of their opponent, but it's good to see that the Longhorns can come out hot.

2. Ashton Judd sees her first minutes as a Longhorn

As previously mentioned, Ashton Judd returned to the Longhorns tonight after her injury. There are also other Longhorns returning soon, like Bryanna Preston and Aaliyah Crump. The Longhorns have done a good job of avoiding foul trouble while those players were out with injuries. It just shows how dangerous the Texas Longhorns team will be when all of them are back to full health. The depth of the Longhorns' roster is going to be dangerous this season.

3. Let's cut down on the excessive three-point shooting

I was not a fan of the Longhorns taking excessive three-pointers tonight. While some of them were wide-open and looked like they were going in the hoop, I'm the type of guy who wants to see the Longhorns be more aggressive at the rim.

It's not that I don't like seeing the Longhorns make three-pointers; it's just that you can live and die by the three-point shot in college basketball. There's no need to get into a bad habit before taking on your SEC competition this year. Stick to being aggressive by driving to the hoop.

4. Let other Longhorns play in these games

To wrap up our postgame article on last night's game against Northwestern State, I want to gripe a bit. I know it's hard with all the injuries right now, and Schaefer can't really do it, but I want to see more minutes for players on the bench during these kinds of games against teams like the Demons. I want to see players like Ashton Judd and Justice Carlton get a lot of minutes.

The last thing that the Texas fanbase wants to see happen is Rori Harmon or Madison Booker get dinged up in a blowout. With the conference schedule right around the corner, the Longhorns don't need to be playing Booker and Harmon 34 minutes against teams like the Demons. I want to see what the bench can do and what they can bring to the table in case one of the starters were to get injured.

The Longhorns host South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon at the Moody Center.
