Texas has been having an excellent offseason so far from both a player acquisition standpoint and an injury rehabilitation standpoint. First, Longhorn Nation got some positive news regarding OT Trevor Goosby, and now Arch Manning appears to be next in line.
According to multiple sources, Manning is officially OUT of his walking boot and moving around unassisted.
This is incredible news as quite a few people thought that he'd still be in it for another week or so, which could slow him down for spring football. Though the staff could still bring him along incredibly slowly, this update atleast gives the team some hope that he'll be able to move around and throw the ball some in practice.
Arch will obviously only participate in 7-on-7 and stationary drills throughout the early portion of spring practice, but there's now a chance that he'll do some live team work towards the end leading up to the spring game.
To be 100% honest, the fact that Manning won't be able to take reps away from K.J. Lacey and Dia Bell is a good thing. Lacey needs to get as much work as he possibly can over the next month to solidify himself as the No.2 quarterback heading into 2026. It'll also be fun to see Dia Bell throwing the football with a Texas uniform on for the first time.
M.J. Morris was most likely brought in to help mentor those two young guys and to provide a false sense of competition to make sure that Lacey doesn't "slack off" in practice, as the coaching staff likes him quite a bit.
