Big-time grad transfer defensive tackle Lee Hunter from UCF visiting Texas football tomorrow
Defensive line coach Kenny Baker and the Longhorns are looking to add at least a couple more immediate-impact defensive tackles from the portal in the winter transfer window.
One transfer defensive tackle with proven P4 experience as a multi-year starter in the portal for this upcoming offseason is former UCF Knights junior defensive lineman Lee Hunter. The big 6-foot-4 and 320-pound defensive tackle Hunter announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on social media on Dec. 13.
Per Inside Texas, Hunter is expected to visit Austin early next week to see Texas. He is reportedly expected to arrive on campus at Texas on Monday (Dec. 16) for a multi-day visit that wraps up on Tuesday.
The Blount, AL, native Hunter started his collegiate career with the Auburn Tigers in the 2021 season before transferring to UCF the following offseason. Hunter was a key contributor to UCF's defensive line rotation in his first season in Orlando in 2022, playing in all 13 games.
He started 23 out of 25 games he appeared in for the Knights in the past two seasons in the Big 12. Hunter has been one of the most productive defensive linemen in the FBS since the start of the 2023 season.
Hunter was the only Big 12 defensive tackle in the past two seasons combined to register over 100 combined tackles, over 20 tackles for loss, and multiple sacks.
Per Pro Football Focus, Hunter led the nation among defensive tackles in combined tackles in the 2023 season. He was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention defensive lineman for UCF in 2023. And he made All-Big 12 Second-Team defensive line for the 2024 season.
Hunter has one year of eligibility remaining.
