Horns247 reports that Bouwmeester has signed his paperwork already to join the Longhorns for this upcoming offseason.
Bouwmeester was a Second-Team All-Big 12 punter for Utah in 2024 after he led the conference in total punting yards (2,680) and punt attempts (60). He also led the Big 12 in punts downed inside the 20-yard line (23) and total punts over 50 yards (14).
Texas is the third school that Bouwmeester has chosen to attend since he started his collegiate career with the Michigan State Spartans in 2019. Bouwmeester committed to Michigan State as a three-star punter recruit from the ProKick Academy program in Australia with the 2019 recruiting class.
He spent a couple of years at Michigan State before returning home to Australia for a couple of years.
Bouwmeester signed with Utah ahead of the 2022 season, where he spent three years handling the punting duties for longtime head coach Kyle Whittingham and the Utes.
In the 2023 season, Bouwmeester was a First-Team All-Pac-12 punter for the Utes, leading the conference in yards per punt (45.5) and average hangtime (4.08 seconds). Bouwmeester was also a Ray Guy Award semifinalist in 2023, which is the award for the nation's top punter in college football.
This is the second time in the past three years that Texas special teams coordinator Jeff Banks has brought in a grad transfer punter from the portal. In the 2023 offseason, Banks landed Stanford senior transfer Ryan Sanborn to handle the punting duties this past season.
In 2024, true freshman Michael Kern handled the punting duties for Banks and the Longhorns on special teams. Kern averaged 40.5 yards per punt and 3.74 seconds of average hangtime on 31 punts this season.
