There were plenty of great performances in week 4 by SEC schools, with Oklahoma beating out Auburn to keep Brent Venables' head above water. Though a couple of other schools played inferior competition this week, their overall dominance helped move the needle in the rankings this week.
With the way Texas trounced Sam Houston State and Ole Miss destroyed Tulane this past weekend, they both managed to stay put or move up in the rankings today.

Texas slots in at No.7 this week, just above Vanderbilt and Missouri. Yes, they were "supposed" to dominate a team like the Bearkats, but Steve Sarkisian and Co. took an enormous step in the right direction before they head into conference play on October 4th. For once, the offense looked operable in multiple aspects on Saturday, and it's going to be crucial that they carry over that success and confidence through their bye week.
The Longhorns' defense continues to play at an elite level, and if the offense can play anywhere near the way that they did in week 4, they might be okay against Florida in a couple of weeks.
