What Andre Cojoe’s injury means for Texas' offensive line room going forward in 2025

It was announced that Cojoe unfortunately tore his ACL on Monday, and now it's time to dive into what it means for the rest of the Longhorns' OL room.

Texas has officially announced that RT Andre Cojoe will miss the 2025 season due to a torn ACL that he suffered on Monday.

Cojoe's been looking good throughout the spring and summer, and Kyle Flood recently said that the battle for the starting right tackle position was still wide-open heading into fall camp last week.

Aside from the fact that the team's depth at the position is fairly weak overall, it means quite a bit to three specific players heading into the 2025 season.

Nick Brooks could now be the top depth option at offensive tackle

The 4-star true freshman offensive tackle has been doing great in camp, and now he might have to step into a legitimate rotational role for the Longhorns in 2025.

The 6'7", 350-pound behemoth could realistically enter the year as the top backup at both tackle spots, so he has to buckle down and soak up everything that Kyle Flood, Trevor Goosby, and Brandon Baker are trying to teach him.

Brandon Baker no longer has competition for the starting RT job

Cojoe was undoubtedly Baker's top competition in fall camp, even though Baker was handling about 70% of the 1st-team reps, and now he's solidified as the starter.

As mentioned above, Nick Brooks appears to be the primary guy at OT3 going forward, but he has no chance to unseat Baker as things currently stand.

Jaydon Chatman may have to permanently kick out to offensive tackle

Chatman has worked at both offensive tackle and guard for the Longhorns over the past two seasons, and now he might have to play offensive tackle in more of a full-time capacity.

The team needs all the playable-depth and versatility that it can get along the offensive line this season so Chatman will mostly likely see more time at offensive tackle.
