Steve Sarkisian has rebuilt the Texas football team since taking over the program in 2021. Since becoming the Longhorns' head coach, Sarkisian has resurrected the team from one that finished with a 5-7 overall record to a team that has appeared in back-to-back College Football Playoffs.
Yet, because the Horns fell short in the 2024 SEC Championship game and Texas has yet to win a national title since Vince Young's historic win over USC, Sarkisian is somehow still considered one of the coaches with the most to prove in 2025.

To put it simply, this list is absurd. There is no doubt that Miami's Mario Cristobal and Alabama's Kalen DeBoer are far from perfect and have a lot of work ahead of them. But... Sark?! He has led Texas to 38 wins and just 17 losses, including just five losses over the last two seasons.
Sarkisian brought Texas to the College Football Playoffs for the first time ever in 2023 and led the Longhorns to a CFP semifinal appearance to cap off their first season in the SEC.
After former head coach Mack Brown left the program in 2013, the Horns were in the rut to end all ruts as they bounced from one head coach to the other (Charlie Strong and Tom Herman) and repeatedly failed to find any real success.
Sarkisian guided the Longhorns into their first season as a part of the powerhouse SEC and Texas lost just one regular-season matchup against their new conference opponents. To say that Sarkisian still has something to prove is a stretch, much less saying that the Texas head coach is one of three HCs with the most to prove in the nation.
Sure, it would be incredible to capture an SEC title and, yes, fans would love another national title to point to. However, Sarkisian has only been in this job for four seasons and he has done incredibly well since taking over.
