Quarterback

Bryce Petty continued the run of prolific quarterback play at Baylor. Petty put up video game statistics, amassing more than 4,400 yards of offense and 46 touchdowns. He had just three interceptions. Petty did look mortal late in the season, as his completion percentage slipped under 60 percent in November and December. Still, Petty had a remarkable season as a first-year starter.

Petty could be even better this season. Another year in Briles’ system means he should have complete mastery of the offense. Don’t be surprised to hear Petty’s name mentioned during Heisman talk.

Texas had a difficult time containing Petty last year. The weather actually did a better job corralling the signal caller than the defense. This season, Petty comes to Austin to face a Texas defense ready to put last year behind it. Petty vs. the Texas secondary will be an intriguing match up.
