Texas Football Recruiting: 5 2020 prospects the Longhorns should pursue early
A more likely running back that’s rated as a five-star prospect to commit to Texas is a Houston, TX, native in Zachary Evans. While Kendall Minton is a quick runner that can explode between the tackles quickly to the next level of the defense, his skill set does not quite match up to that of Evans.
This is a running back that could be completely dominant in college with his quick cutting ability and acceleration to get past almost anyone trying to bring him down. Evans would be a real game-changer for the Texas offense. He’s talented in almost every aspect that a running back would need to be successful.
Garnering more than 30 offers to this point, Texas will have to fight to keep Evans in Big 12 country and keep him away from the SEC. Three other programs that could land him include the LSU Tigers, Texas A&M, and Alabama. Yet, Texas might be the overall favorite at this point to get his commitment.
As the No. 5 rated prospect in the nation for this recruiting cycle, Evans is going to be hotly contested by a ton of top programs. He’s also the best running back in this recruiting class and the best overall prospect out of the state of Texas. This would be huge for the rest of the class too if the Horns are able to get Evans.
