While Herman gave a glimpse into how the depth chart is forming on offense at the outset of fall camp at quarterback, he’s also given some insight into the starters along the offensive line. He’s mentioned on numerous occasions that he doesn’t feel as if playing a true freshman is the most ideal situation for the offensive line.

Yet, that decision is likely to be left to first-year co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Herb Hand. Since Hand will have his grasp over a Texas offensive line that needs some pretty massive progression this year, he could shake things up a bit at some point. And, the best freshman lineman available to Hand is four-star Utah offensive tackle Junior Angilau.

Surprisingly enough, the deepest position group along the offensive line for Texas is tackle. Guard and center will both have some questions following the 2018 campaign. But, offensive tackle looks to be sound for years to come for the Horns. Angilau was not the only four-star offensive tackle that signed with the 2018 Texas football recruiting class.

Fans should also watch out for Seminole, TX, native Reese Moore and Frisco, TX, native Rafiti Ghirmai this fall. Given the new NCAA redshirt rule that allows freshmen to play up to four games without foregoing one year of eligibility means that Herman and Hand can mix and match on the offensive line. Angilau should be the first freshman up in that situation.
